In the last couple of months I have been very fortunate to learn 4 different types of cartomancy systems using 24 playing cards. When I say learn, I am referring to self-study rather than having a direct teacher to correct my mistakes and clarify my misunderstandings.

This blog over the next few weeks will provide the reader with the meanings of the cards in the 4 different methods and the spreads that are particular to them. I also intend you use this as a scribble pad in putting the 4 systems to work in readings.

The Bulgarian method and Stef Sanjati Scottish Grandmothers method can be found on the YouTube channels of Dmitry Korolev and Stef Sanjati. The Romanian method comes from the research conducted by Tony Dwyer who I met on Facebook and the Polish method comes from the blog by Magdalena W. who wrote about her Polish Grandmothers method of reading playing card.

The cards that are to be used are the 7’s, 10, Jacks, Queens, King and Ace (Romanian method)
In the 3 other methods it is the 9, 10, Jack, Queen, King and Ace. Only in the Bulgarian and Romanian method do the Aces have an upright and reversed meaning. It is a good idea to mark the cards by placing a dot on top of the card to help different up from down.

I will place the meanings as a collective group so you can see the similarities and the differences from the four different methods and then individual to the particular method.

To avoid having to write the names of the countries as I give the meanings to the cards, I will shorten them to…
B = (Bulgarian), P = (Polish), R = (Romanian), and S = (Scottish)
